A friends son decided to go to the Windsor shoe shows for his birthday celebration and got popped. They were not at all nice about it (which is OK in my book) and he can no longer cross the border.

America's judicial system stinks when it comes to fair sentencing. Three police officers kill a homeless guy suffering from schizophrenia? Innocent. Pedophiles, child pornographers, and sex trafficers serve shorter sentences than drug dealers. Children and adults forced into prostitution are categorized as sex workers and not rape victims. Rich and famous? Do what you want with little to no repercussion.

What's really sad is that the President was making a speech on sexual assault but the Justin Bieber court appearance got more attention. Of course this was on Fox news but my point is that our media and our culture is too obsessed with the rich and famous.

Our culture really is. I still don't understand the Kardashian craze. The government is going through everyone's phone records, there's a chemical leak in the water supply in W Va, children still going hungry, unemployment, etc., but we care more about Beyonce performing for the president than asking ourselves why the government is spending that money on their own entertainment when we are in a huge deficit. Why do we care about Miley Cyrus' hair cut and dancing than we do about the little girl looking for a kidney donor. Absolutely boggles my mind. I have faith that Americans will wake up one day and realize that all the crap they've been fed and entertained was to keep their minds off of real issues. Then the chickens will come home to roost. This was supposed to be a nation for the people by the people. Never did it say rich and famous.

[/quote]He hasn't yet been sentenced. That's later. All he's done now is post bail. He has to come back on his court date and THEN we'll see what happens. When you hear the judge talk about the fines, he went down the list of the 3 charges and what were the normal bail for them. In total it was something like $2500, which is right in line with what everyone else would pay for bail for same charges in that county.

I'm in no way sticking up for him, and they did pull some strings to get on the docket as early as possible, but he was treated the same way as if it were any other schlepp.

We had a case here locally that the guy who hit a teenage girl on a skateboard was more than twice the legal limit intoxicated got off because he was rich. He even had her flesh on his vehicle and still got off. Just goes to show if you have money then you can do whatever you want.
