A lot depends on the fitter. A good fitter will improve on your current set. A poor fitter won’t. Find a reputable fitter then go in with no preconceived notions on clubs. I always seem to get the best results that way.
-
Oh they’re not bad clubs, just did nothing for me. My GT1 goes further and straighter.
-
Following this with interest as I’ve been eyeing up a super select Newport plus or Newport two plus.
-
Nothing ever came close to- it’s the worst driver I’ve ever owned! It was short off the tee, sounded like a tin can and never went straight. Every driver I’ve owned before or since was better than the FT-iQ I had. Having been fit myself in Feb, I tried all the recent offerings and they’re all massively more forgiving. The ping didn’t work for me, the Gt1 with a standard weight shaft and heavier back weight is my current club of choice. Goes miles and I rarely miss a fairway.

That’s my concern. Tp5x is a firm, low spin high launch. Not sure titleist make that - the v1 is low spin mid launch and soft, the v1x is firm, high launch but high spin.
-
I ended up sticking with tp5x but after today I’m not sure. Just seems to be the odd ball every now and then that performs in an odd manner but if I pull a used tp5x out it performs as expected. I’ve never had that from any titleist ball, they always perform as expected. They’ve been out a while now, which ball is closer to the tp5x in the titleist range?
-
I’m considering coming back to pro v1 as I know I’ll get the same performance off every ball in a sleeve. Been playing tp5x for a year or so now and I get the odd ball that just reacts differently for some reason. Today I played a club comp, new ball, suddenly I was struggling and I’ve been playing well last few weeks. Switched to a tp5x I’ve used twice recently from a different sleeve and my usual game was back. All I’ve done was change the ball, same brand and same dozen. I made no swing changes. I seem to find this with Taylormade balls, the odd one just doesn’t behave right.
-
Let titleist deal with it, good they want it back to investigate. Never seen anything like that myself bar serious scuffs if I thin a wedge. However I have noticed the current gen of titleist balls, FOR ME, don’t seem as durable as previous gens. They aren’t worse than the competition from my experience, but I always found they were the best for durability. Now I’d say they’re about the same as the competition from my experience.

I had the same issues with three putt avoidance with every mallet before I got my L neck tour X. Now I rarely 3 putt, it plays just like a blade for me but way more forgiving. I’d tried previous spiders with slant necks, double bends, a phantom 5.5, a two ball (worked for me when they first came out 20 years ago) and so on. No mallet worked, until I got this specific spider.

I tried to go TSR2 to Gt2 and saw no difference for my game. Went to Gt1 with same shaft and saw some difference in distance and dispersion improving (HZRDUS Red). Went to the new Denali red and distance and dispersion really improved. Maybe the GT range just works better with the newer shafts? 🤷🏼

Loved my MySpider tour X since I bought it April last year. Prefer the pure surlyn face in mine over the mixed insert on the standard ones. Can’t see it ever leaving the bag, each time I’ve taken it out it’s gone back in within one round - sometimes it’s back in before I even get to the course 🤣
-
Big Cameron fan, I own several including a couple of special additions from previous years. These look great, but are they special enough to warrant £729 when they don’t have black shaft etc? I can get a MySpider in all black with black shaft and aluminium or surlyn insert for £350, both have grooves but the spider is half the price. IMO they don’t do enough to justify the price, these could easily have just been next years phantom models as it’s only the milling on the current select putter across the face in black with a different grip. As much as I love them I’ll hang fire to see if that milling becomes standard at the next refresh as my coach is struggling to sell them and still carries last years B3 and champions choice as they weren’t popular.

Not the last two years but the original SIM/SIM max were fade biased. I always struggled to close the face on those drivers regardless of the setting on the club.

How Many Major Championships will Scottie Scheffler Win?
philly2kuk replied to AintNoHobby's topic in Tour Talk
I reckon 10, I’ve said all along he’s a good player and doesn’t get the credit he deserves from some people. I don’t think he’ll be as dominant as tiger or Jack purely because he was older than them when he started winning, but I also don’t see anyone on his level to challenge him. Certainly not Rory, yes he’s won the masters but he’s thrown away so many chances over the years to be on more than five majors. I would’ve said Koepka once upon time, but the injury and LIV seems to have hampered his game - didn’t even hear his name once all week, was surprised to see he actually played. -

Few people saying he wouldn’t win the open. Those posts aged well 🤣 -
Does anyone have 2 or more putters in their arsenal?
philly2kuk replied to drcohen's topic in Putters
I may need to seek help then, I’m not happy if I take more than 30 putts….. clearly a me issue! -
I messed up my own game fiddling with different balls this year. Went back to my ‘24 tp5x and my game came back. It’s due for changing next year so might just stock up on the current model 🤣

My driver fitting said I was between 96-98mph consistently, so similar to yourself. I couldn’t get GT2 to work either, in fact nothing could beat my tsr2 until the GT1 in heavier set-up was wheeled out. Nevertheless I will try again with the ping driver next time round. One day I’ll find one that works as well as their other clubs have for me over the years. For now I’ll just have to jealously admire all you people with G440s.
-
Yeah. Pretty gutted as love the look of the ping drivers but never been able to get them to work for me.
-
Couldn’t get on with gt2, it looked weirdly offset to me and my previous driver was tsr2. Honestly this GT1 is superb in a standard weight setting rather than its usual lightweight set up. Surprised titleist don’t shout about it as it was in the literature they sent to my pro.
-
Nope Miss is toe side, bad shot is a hook. I’ve got the GT1 with a heavier weight in the head and standard weight shaft and it destroyed the pings for me. In fact it destroyed everything it was put up against. Just something about ping drivers that doesn’t work for me at all, no issues with the woods or hybrids.

It’s funny, I really wanted to like both the g430 and g440 but I just found them short off the tee compared to other clubs. And we aren’t taking a few yards, we are talking 10-15. Both fittings I ended up walking away with the titleist driver that went further and straighter. I know this is just my game and it’s definitely not the case for everyone, just found them disappointing. I’m a big Ping fan and I really wanted to put one of them in the bag but Ping drivers just don’t seem to work for me and I’ve always struggled with them through my golfing life. It’s a bit like callaway irons, I’ve never hit any model well.
