  1. Cheaters eventually get caught so you did a good thing by helping him & giving him a warning. The only risk was if the kid did poorly after you spoke & the parents accused you of intimidating their kid (which luckily wasn’t an issue here).
  2. Looks like China kids are increasingly getting top college golf offers. It’s even higher % if you include the Canadians (both girls & boys) from China. USC just took 2 players in 2026 from China, and I recall Notre Dame also recruiting a couple in the past two years - same for Northwestern. It used to be only UW, Oregon, ASU and other higher % acceptance schools recruiting them…it will be interesting to see how this plays out in the next few years.
  3. Perhaps the D3 coach is used to his kids playing 6000 to 6300 yards? Seriously, even the top D3 schools kids can't do that, let alone a mid tier.
  4. I’ve seen some of these boards. The list can be long, but some coaches are delusional & think they’re capable of recruiting certain top kids - then end up scrambling 😂
  5. Not sure on the Ivy hoops player - perhaps another story there. At a current CA AJGA, the Stanford recruit just shot 80 during R1 & is 41st out of 51 golfers. In 18 holes, he is already 12 strokes behind the leader, a 2026 Yale commit, placing him 41st place out of 51. We shall see what happens when he starts school, but at this rate I don’t think he would make the roster at an Ivy, let alone at Stanford. https://www.ajga.org/tournaments/2025/rg-golf-junior-championship/leaderboard
  6. You might be right about the golf portion, but I can tell you for a fact that Stanford is an easy easy school (unless going pre-med), which none of the guys are doing. In fact, from my b-school, all the stanford undergrads had 3.9+ GPA - just like today. Nothing has changed since Varsity Blue, other than Stanford will only take admissions risk for $10M+. Exhibit A is incoming recruit who might be the weakest (& lowest ranked) golfer Stanford has recruited in 15 years).
  7. Stanford can’t seem to recruit or keep good student athletes!?! It feels like a lot of their recent five years’ recruits either transfer, get cut, and/or can’t contribute enough to consistently make the roster? It can’t be the academics right? Everyone knows Stanford is known for massive grade inflation & is quite easy once students get in.
  8. Gemini is pretty accurate! Perhaps Mac/JGS need some exposure/transparency & allow people to upvote?!
  9. Good weather for coaches & wife/kids/family + legoland = boondoggle. Many junior tournaments have crap locations/weather - ask anyone who traveled to Iowa for Western Junior. Not that it’s bad for recruiting, but it’s not a boondoggle!
