  1. 13.1 Actions Allowed or Required on Putting Greens Purpose of Rule: This Rule allows the player to do things on the putting green that are normally not allowed off the putting green, such as being allowed to mark, lift, clean and replace a ball and to repair damage and remove sand and loose soil on the putting green. There is no penalty for accidentally causing a ball or ball-marker to move on the putting green. e. No Deliberate Testing of Greens During a round and while play is stopped under Rule 5.7a, a player must not deliberately take either of these actions to test the putting green or a wrong green: Rub the surface, or Roll a ball.
  2. Never did one back in the day. I would not be surprised if Ping used a proprietary shaft and a standard flare tip won't fit. Wouldn't be something I would mess around with unless I was willing to waste the money and order a shaft on a guess.
  3. The idi will have an internal weight in the hosel. As well as a screw weight in the toe. The hosel weight is not in the shaft tip and is inside the bottom of the hosel. They will not leave the hosel weight out. You can specify a really light SW based on +1.5" and hope for the best. They may tell you it is not possible. As far as reshafting, and removing the weight, I would not advise it unless you are really skilled at club repair and have a myriad of stuff to McGyver a new hosel weight so the new shafts do not go too far into the hosel. You also will need the specific Ping ferrules for that head as the hosel ID is very large.
  4. All things being equal, the i240 head has to weigh less than expected. 1/4" length is not a factor in the weight. Apparently a moot point now.
  5. Not too early to see an eye Dr. Especially if you are experiencing Presbyopia already. At 31, your vision should still be like a hawk unless there are underlying problems. Even at 64+ I only occasionally completely lose a ball and that is usually when it goes off in a direction I wasn't expecting and I lost it right off the face. 20/20 with contacts and no cataracts, yet.
  6. What's to know? You know the weight of the grip, the shaft (minus a few grams for trimming), head weights, ferrule, tape and epoxy weight. Add 'em up.
  7. While the act of throwing the ball might not be a direct violation (just because I couldn't find one does't mean it isn't there), I think it would likely come under scrutiny for Unreasonable Delay and being under the player's control. It would likely be a judgement call. It also could fall under Standards of Player Conduct for not showing consideration to others. I'm sure it would draw unwanted scrutiny from Officials and players almost immediately. 5.6 Unreasonable Delay; Prompt Pace of Play 5.6a/1 – Examples of Delays That Are Considered Reasonable or Unreasonable Unreasonable delays in the context of Rule 5.6a are delays caused by a player’s actions that are within the player’s control and affect other players or delay the competition. Brief delays that are a result of normal events that happen during a round or are outside the player’s control are generally treated as “reasonable”. Determining which actions are reasonable or unreasonable depends on all the circumstances, including whether the player is waiting for other players in the group or the group ahead. 1.2 Standards of Player Conduct a. Conduct Expected of All Players All players are expected to play in the spirit of the game by: Acting with integrity – for example, by following the Rules, applying all penalties, and being honest in all aspects of play. Showing consideration to others – for example, by playing at a prompt pace, looking out for the safety of others, and not distracting the play of another player. If a player plays a ball in a direction where there might be a danger of hitting someone, they should immediately shout a warning, such as the traditional warning of “fore”. Taking good care of the course – for example, by replacing divots, smoothing bunkers, repairing ball-marks, and not causing unnecessary damage to the course. There is no penalty under the Rules for failing to act in this way, except that the Committee may disqualify a player for acting contrary to the spirit of the game if it finds that the player has committed serious misconduct.
  8. Not that I'm aware of. Once Golf Pride moved on to the MCC, they stopped making the 1/2 cord that you have. Has got to be at least 20 year ago. The 1/2 cord (bottom cord, top rubber) were really prone to splitting as soon as you tried to slide them on. It was a real issue with that style. Don't confuse tacky with the rubber breaking down and turning to goo.
  9. How old are you? Over 40? As we age, the eyes don't adjust to track things as fast. You start out looking at the flight of the ball and then because your eyes don't adjust as fast, the ball goes out of focus and it just seems to disappear on you. It is even more problematic on unfamiliar courses as you don't have the visual cues as to where the ball will likely land. On familiar courses that you play often, you can look down range and guess where the ball will land and can focus on that area and pick it up again. Not so much on unfamiliar courses. You might be able to mitigate some issues by using a colored ball or different sunglasses. A trip to an ophthalmologist might be in order to make sure you don't have any other issues. I have the same issues if I wear my progressives to golf with (very rarely). The ball travels outside of the part of the lens I use for distance vision and then the ball is gone. I might be able to pick it up again, but usually I just extrapolate where the ball might be. Lately the air has been compromised by forest fire smoke and the haze makes it really hard to track the ball. So other conditions could be a problem.
  10. So in keeping with the theme of doing something stupid.... Yesterday I decided to follow through with my plan to fix some holes in my garage approach and back lane with asphalt. Done it before and it's just a bit of work. Three bags of asphalt from the local hardware store and get at it. To pack the asphalt down, I built a packer out of 2x4's (essentially 5 screwed together) and you just lift it up and drop it on the thing you want to pack down. It only weighs 15 lbs but you've got to lift it up about 6-12" and drop it. Do that a few hundred times. Long story short, I've now got the start of Tennis Elbow in my left arm. Another none golf related injury that could have serious repercussions long term. Not my first rodeo with tennis/golf elbow as I have it in my right arm. I'm now cursing myself at being so stupid as to over-do it. Again. Started a course of ice and massage and hope I can nip this in the bud.
  11. There, I fixed that for you. Time to put your big boy pants on and realize that no amount of this ^^ is going to change it. If you spent 1/2 the time reading the rules of BST as you did in this thread, you would be absolutely clear in what you can and cannot do.

  14. Yes, the smart player will figure out before hand which relief option is the best course of action. Some pick up the ball too soon and then are stuck with a course of actions that they may not have wanted. I think we saw that with someone on a path not liking their subsequent relief options and couldn't go back.
  15. It took me a minute to wrap my head around this, but I got it. Just nothing I've run into and if I have, the temp. water extended right to the edge of the path and then the relief becomes obvious.
  16. You would have to be very careful. They could rule that the flare is to dramatic and deem it non-conforming. It is something that would need to be ruled on by the USGA or R&A. As in the 1st grip. While pistol grips are ok, if the flare is too dramatic, it could be declared non-conforming.
  17. The reason for the warning - not a ban - was given in the other thread you started. Although, if you keep harping about the injustice you perceive you have been dealt, no guarantees about what might happen.
  18. No. Neither of them are round and with 2 grips on a broomstick they need to be round.
  19. Glass shafting beads have no place in club repair. They are far too small for the job at hand. You need something bigger like Quick Center.
  20. You would be surprised at how many cram a ton of epoxy into an adaptor or hosel. We used to have a saying: "When you've made it idiot proof, you've underestimated the idiots."
  21. Then you got lucky. Most will use too much epoxy or the viscosity of their epoxy is such that it will leak down and get into the threads.
  22. I basically was doing that for a long while. The ball was skipping/skidding a lot. I changed to my current putter and started to put a real roll on the ball. Sometimes it can be the arrow.
  23. You have to turn the shaft upside down. Then you run the risk of going into the shaft or leaking out around the top of the hosel. Best to replace the plug and not worry about all that.
