yeah, most I have taken are inside at some golf course facility. Usually meet at some section of the golf course.

I remember one time I asked to hit a x100 in some blade at a big box store ?(pga tour superstore). The guy almost wouldn't let me hit it, lol. I get where they are coming from though, most golfers who don't know much probably want the most stiff shaft available for ego.

I remember seeing Blair at the 2015 memorial, I'm pretty sure he was a rookie on tour but the only reason I remember him is because he was paired with Tiger. He actually beat him that day but Tiger wasn't fully healthy.

why not take an online lesson or something and work on those things? This position you are practicing is not good. Don't take it the wrong way but you are doing stuff that isn't going to help and potentially could cause injury if done enough.

are there instructors in strip centers? Not sure I've been to one besides golftec. Most have made their way onto some club/facility/golf course as a full time instructor.

Erica Larkin: Heretical or 'True' swing?

Tigers swing wasn’t my favorite under Foley. Tiger was popping up 3 woods right before he left Haney too, lol. -

you realize he molded Roses swing that we all talk about on this forum and worked with him for over a decade? He gave him that Justin Rose drill everyone talks about on here because he had an upright swing and his hand path went out too much from the top, stalling his rotation. Foley improved his swing a bunch. -

Foley doesn’t teach anything to hurt someone’s back. Sure he’s got some quirks but I’ve watched a lot of his stuff and I thought it was helpful. He does push that pro sender a bit too much though. If you want to avoid that, stay away from guys teaching super side bend and rotation. -

looks like he is in there, number 43. Ive taken lessons with a few and their prices have atleast doubled. Nick Clearwater I took a couple lessons right before he got that new role in Colorado and he was like 100 an hour or something, that list says he is 1,000 an hour now, lol. -
I'm having a hard time even following what the discussion/debate is about now. Are we still discussing the original videos content?

If it's their own gears data from students then it's probably > 80% retired folks over 55 with money to blow, that's the demographic who can afford these guys from the live lessons I've seen. However, I did still enjoy seeing those lessons, probably only on the paid site now.

I saw some video clip of him the other day when he was younger (possibly college) and his swing actually was more normal then. It wasn’t across the line and he didn’t shuffle his feet much on the downswing.

Erica Larkin: Heretical or 'True' swing?

Problem with most Dr.'s in the US, they just throw medication at everything, it's what they are taught in med school. I just heard Dana White on a podcast say he will never go to a Dr. again for general health, only for something like surgeries that are needed. What happened to him is what happens to many. They just throw medications at you and the side effects end up hurting you worse than the original condition. I guess they had him on blood pressure medicine and can't remember the other stuff based on his blood work but was really messing him up, he was pretty sick few years back from all this. Stopped taking all of it, got in better shape and started working out which fixed everything. -
just bar alone, probably not. I would probably stick to easier exercises to perform though. I'd be interested in hearing @bluedot exercise routine? I'm always interested in learning better ways to work out.

yeah, I just remember him making that comment when he was trying to improve my sequence. He did have some good advice on how to improve my sequence though.
-
regarding kinematic sequence, I got on a 3d measuring device many years back on the system with all the wires and we were looking at my kinematic sequence. Was one of Manzella's guys. He was telling me that there is a kinematic sequence that looks good on paper and makes sense but the pro's are all over the place in their kinematic sequence when measured on the system. This was like 10 years ago.

The video was pretty good for what it is measuring, pga tour players probably average 45 degree's open with the hips at impact. The arms would have to be on the right side of the body to hit it at the target and they would technically be swinging right of your body alignment at impact. The trick would be getting your everyday golfer to get their hips open 45 at impact to actually swing the arms that way. Maybe they are saying that attempting to swing with the arms on the right side of the body and out to the right will cause your hips to be open around 45 at impact? Otherwise, that ball is going right. I think the true goal of the video was to explain that pro's aren't swinging their hands in front of their body (midline) which can be sort of an illusion. I would think this would cause the hips to stall out a bunch.

I've mentioned this on here before but I play football catch with my nephew as of late since he got into football, he's 13 now. He throws a spiral on every throw where as I can occasionally get a spiral to come out of my throw. I've picked his brain on how he does it trying to learn myself and he basically taught himself by throwing a football, didn't look at any instruction or get help from anyone. I mean I'm sure he has seen people throw a football and mimics it but I watch nfl every Sunday during season since I was a kid and that doesn't help me throw it better. So I think there is some natural ability to it or maybe it's just luck to pick up on it easily, just like young golfers that end up on the pga tour. I'm sure he could get even better too with some help, as long as someone doesn't screw up what he is doing right now. -
yeah, I just got pulled into this based on my response to simpsonia. These conversations usually go in circles.

yeah, fitness and lifting are great and does help to prevent injuries when done the right way. I didn’t know too many that got injured in high school lifting either, I pretty much could recover in a few days if I got hit by a semi in high school. Unfortunately, injuries do come with lifting and more so heavy lifting as we age. It’s wear and tear just like anything else but being sedentary is even worse so you need to find the right balance. if you don’t believe me that injuries happen from lifting then check out the Starting Strength forum, in the injury section. It’s the most popular section on that forum besides maybe the technique section. The bodybuilding forum doesn’t exist anymore or I would tell you to go there.
-
you realize I lift weights, right?
-
any sort of lifting? Never said that once. That is called strawman argument. Talking about injuries and safety in the gym shouldn’t be avoided.

I agree working out is great for you and should be done. Don’t agree that compound lifts done heavy and with incorrect form is rare to cause injury. Regarding kettlebells, I recently read on a forum a post from a young girl who was doing kettlebell swings and herniated a couple discs in her neck doing the exercise. Had to get medical attention who found she herniated a couple discs. Many videos out there showing the form she used as “correct”, keep head looking straight ahead during the swing. Well that pinched the discs in her neck on the swing down. I felt bad for her. Not trying to cause fear or something, just awareness.

so you said it was bad advice and then basically agreed with me.
