  1. For anyone who has struggled learning the golf swing, correlating swing methods to body types or to mobility/strength limitations is very attractive because it provides a bit of an excuse for our failures. While it may be valid, I am always suspicious when told my failings aren't my fault, but a consequence of trying the wrong swing method/approach. It just seems too easy an out. If it sounds too good to be true, it usually is. However, if it's helping some folks play better, then it's hard to be too critical. Ceilings might be lowered, but most folks aren't willing to max out their potential anyway. Just being able to play "not awful" golf is sufficient.
  2. We have a range membership. Range balls are free (LOL). Actually 3 large buckets a day. That's roughly 300 balls for the two of us. It we hit all of them every day, we would be crippled in a week. My struggle with slow motion swings is I can't hit the ball (embarrassing). My stock 8i goes 130 or so. I can hit it 100 or 110 or 120, but not with a slow full swing. I choke down and hit various length punches to dial in the distance. Not great at it, but doable. Full slow swing is topped, bladed, chunked, and shanked (sounds like an incompetent law firm).
  3. I didn't let it go far enough I guess. The app is irritating to me because it is iOS only. Apple's hardware was always brilliantly designed. Their software not so much. Way too touchy, feely for me.
  4. I didn't watch all the AMG video. Sounded like it was going to be an infomercial for that swing training app I can't use. Listened to the podcast. I am not a very good student. I suck at drills and slow motion swinging. I also tend to have unrealistic expectations. It’s all on me for sure, though. Just grinding it out on my own right now. Maybe I'll do something online one day and try to be a good student. Otherwise I'll keep digging it out of the plastic.
  5. There is nothing more awesome in golf than executing a great shot under adversity. Playing from a divot is an opportunity to excel. Your playing partners will be amazed and envious when you pull off the shot. You will also gain greater respect by not whining and sucking it up to hit the shot whether successful or not. It's character building. There is no downside.
  6. You could do something like that and get a ranking, but the devil is in the details of how you allocate points vs making the cut not top 30 vs MC vs DNP. Things are never as simple as first conceptualized.
  7. Timber sports are wild to watch. Serious skills, but some stuff that's really scary. You really don't want to shank in that contest...
  8. That looks just like things at my driving range...
  9. Then that's OK too. Life isn't meant to be rainbows and unicorns. That's what makes golf so special. It emulates is less dire situations what we frequently encounter in life.
  10. We aren't miserable. We are joyful. We learned how to hit out of a divot. We acquired that skill which made us better players. Basically we win whether we go into a divot or if our opponent rolls into a divot.
  11. He putted the ball up to just behind your ball then took the divot with the wedge. Now lying 3 hitting 4 from 30 yards up.
  12. Diagnosing cataracts and their severity is more of an ophthalmologist thing.
  13. Well things seem to vanish more in thin air...
  14. It can be very difficult if you play at altitude...
  15. Ping's design philosophy is based on maximizing MOI for the most part. That can lead to high vertical CG (Actual Vertical CG in the Maltby database). The Maltby MPF philosophy values lower vertical CG and longer C dimension (essentially distance horizontally from the hosel to the CG). MOI is weighted third in the algorithm that computes MPF. In most cases it is far more useful to look at the individual AVCOG, C dimension, and MOI values to find what works best for each individual. The Blueprint S has a significantly lower AVCOG than the i230. Importantly, the Blueprint's AVCOG is lower than the midpoint of a golf ball whereas the i230 is substantially higher. Based on your description, you would likely find a lower AVCOG design better suited to your swing. To find out you really should try some low AVCOG irons and see how you strike them.
  16. Telling the Army "it depends" lost us a contract (along with some other things obviously). They went apoplectic when we said "it depends". They wanted simple answers about complex processes. Similar to the golf swing. Unfortunately, the real world doesn't work that way.
  17. It will not impact the torque free balance as long as you have L.A.B. build the putter with the non-Press grip. The Press grips are recommended because they help alleviate the anxiety and visual look of the considerable putter onset that most L.A.B. putters have.
  18. All there is, all there has been, and all there will ever be is...math.
  19. I believe that Dean Knuth's Pope of Slope website might have some odds y'all could play with. BTW, when comparing handicap strokes between genders the specific course played matters. Men's and women's ratings vary some in relation to each other.
