🤣. Read this ^ last. I didn’t know that either. I thought it was real. No worries man. My distrust of all humans is my deal.
-
🤣. Nope. I just enjoyed the irony. This guy wasn’t a teen that knew nothing. He’s old enough to have ears to hear the contact in his sim that day. Douchecanoe was middling that driver. On repeat. Why blame the swing and not the club ? That’s why I laughed.

I get it man. I do. My fire should be directed at the big box retailers ineptitude they mask as all encompassing wisdom. He’s just the poor salesman charged with barking for the carnival crowd. In my extreme youth I did this for another industry. ( sales). 3 years of it and I just couldn’t lie anymore. It’s soul sucking. The lie isn’t willful at first. They don’t give you the tools or info to know you’re lying. But some of us get too smart to believe the pitch after a while. so yep. Definitely see your point. The young guy selling isn’t the real target or shouldn’t be. .
-
I believe it. The real reason was - he didn’t have any X in stock. 🤣.
-
Yep. I can see both sides. The cynic in me enjoyed it BECAUSE of how many times I’ve walked into a big box and had a 70 year old club fitter tell me as a 35 year old ( swinging 122 with a driver ) “ nobody needs x stiff iron shafts “ and proceeds to hand me a 105 gram S. One of these times I saw 101 mph with a 6 iron. ( was mad and in a good rhythm) And just left. I had a pocket full of cash wanting to buy irons. And couldn’t get proper help fitting to a set. This story repeats often for the outliers. I’m now old and don’t have to worry about that anymore 🤣. the flip side is , you can do real harm to a guys meal ticket. The old Man brain that I have now sees that. All humans fake it till they make it. And that lasts until death as best as I can tell. Outing him is hypocritical. Because Zach is doing same. He’s just faking another thing. And collecting pay from that.

Agree there. It definitely was a factor in price justification.

Erica Larkin: Heretical or 'True' swing?

Oh I’m sure. It’s just like any other profession. I just meant that I didn’t ever hear him brag about it . Or sell off it etc. the guy cured me of the putting yips with an entire rebuild. And it wasn’t easy , nor was it one session deal. He’s quirky. But so am I. I’d say he’s as progressive in ideas and measuring methods as anybody could be. He’d probably be higher if his personality were bolder. If that makes sense. -

Glad to see Mr Orr at 16. Never heard him mention it. -
Do you study GRF traces to try to improve?

I can’t find a good driver fitting. 🤣. So what do you think? I’ve never seen a ground force plate. Wouldnt know one if it walked up. I’m sure it’s good info. But really. I wouldn’t know where to look for one. ( just jerking your chain man ). -
Well I’m glad to hear it. I was getting depressed for you in Ohio. Was going to send you some real estate listings down by me. Closer to the coast. And a Dairy Queen ! 🤣 edit - it was Indiana now that I think of it. My bad.
-
I don’t think it would reach Ohio anyway ! 🤨

I’d love to see an identical pic to match these two. With the correct grip. I’m familiar with the hogan page , etc etc. but this is a great view in my opinion of the hands and club. Just in the palms. A perfect juxtaposition would be a good teaching tool.

Very Interesting video about one of the tiny islands off NC. And its dialect etc. but. Checkout this kid on the drums. Go to the 40.10 ish mark. Am I crazy or is he good ? ( age as context). @aenemated .. that’s looks like a really hard song to me. But I don’t really know. here is him too covering princes guitar solo from the RR hall of fame show. What’s he’s gonna go be like when he’s grown and has strong hands? . And some say natural talent doesn’t exist. They say he hasn’t been playing guitar long … crazy.

How does the devolve into the slaying of the paper tiger called “ nobody teaches kids proper mechanics in sports TODAY ?! 🤣. Nobody said that. At all. Kids today are over coached if anything. It’s an arms race. But I digress. that statement was said for 30 plus years ago. It’s absolutely true that more kids learn proper mechanics today. I simply wonder how some did it 30 plus years ago ? At some junction it had to be chicken. Not egg. Or egg not chicken. No ulterior motives. No gotchas. Just curiosity. I get that nobody wants the word “ natural” to be used. Maybe we change it to “ self discovery “. Or “ blind pig found an acorn “? 🤣. -

Sure. Again. I’m not anti instruction. I’m anti one size fits all. It’s not about the info. It’s the delivery. The language. The visual. No. I stopped baseball at the middle school level. Began to hate the sport once travel ball became a thing. Quit and started track. And went on to run sub 49 second 400m in that. I often wonder how fast I mig it have been at that with a coach. No doubt today’s kids are better at everything because of coaching. As in the parity is amazingly wide. keep in mind. These topics always go sideways. I really do not know why? All I said was that I had watched to the 6 minute mark. And so far I found no lies. And that i liked her club explanation. The visual. For some reason discussion of this isn’t possible immediately attacked I don’t know her from Adam’s house cat. -

Right. So we agree. I’m just not good at explaining myself. Or I over do it etc. I might look at it that way now. But I learned opposite. I learned by making the ball move. The whys didn’t come along till 10 years later. my issue with doing it in reverse is trust. How many times have we all followed “ trust me bro “ just to see bad results for months “. I’m playing for score. Not positions on a video. I have a camera stand now. But hesitate to shoot any video until after next weekend. Have a 2 day event I’ll be in contention to win. And am ramping up nicely score wise. And don’t want to go down any rabbit holes until after. I test out every single nugget I get here. Most are good. But I haven’t see it in action before I trust that. Rambling now I’ll stop. -

Oh for sure. I’ve fit myself for all of the above with finding cog, lead tape and ability to build the club. But that’s tough going without a trackman . Trial and error only. -

Adding to the above here so you don’t miss the edit. A great example of what I mean by visual is that short video you sent me showing the wrist movements. I understood immediately what you meant. But you could have described it in words 20 times and I wouldn’t have got it. She’s showing you similarly. And that clicks with me. No talk of supination , probation , pronation , or the other technical terms. My eyes glaze over when I hear them. And that’s an indictment on me. Not any teacher that uses them. But I can’t seem to make that click. But I can watch a good swing and copy it. So ? That’s all I’m saying. In a nutshell. Is that natural or just a different learning style. Probably the latter. But it’s different either way. -

I would agree with that. I’ve never found one. Now. Admittedly. I haven’t flown or driven out of state to find one. But I also wouldn’t know where to start. Maybe the titleist performance center ? But you can’t go to any fitter I’ve seen and say “ test a current driver at 44.5 “. Or anything less than stock length. They won’t have a shaft , or ability to swing weight it correctly. -

😎. Not wanting to argue. I understand outliers vs the masses. And in no way am saying anyone can get nuggets from this. But. Some potentially can . ( I’m not vouching for this lady ). .I can’t ignore what I’ve experienced. People who grew up pre internet ( me) rarely had instruction on doing anything. I agree. We all knew a kid who just couldn’t throw a ball. But. We had a baseball team full of guys who could. And I’m telling you, the coach was a bus driver with a red man habit. Nothing more. You were placed into positions on the field based on what you could already do. Not coached into positions . Polishing was all you got. And It consisted of “ get off your a__ and get to that ball “ 🤣. I think it ALL has a place. I like knowing the whys. So I’m not at all against technical teaching. But. I know that the intuitive/visual player exists. I am one. and I still say. Especially with driver. Instruction does not include enough talk of the actual club. Including acknowledgment that the swing isn’t the same as the other 12. -

I’m about 6 min in. Can’t argue with anything yet. Sort of like the club explanations. I personally think instruction has not nearly enough club talk in it. Especially around driver. Ie- why do we try to fit ALL players into the same length and head size driver ? We don’t do that with any other club. Is there a point of diminishing returns on height /armlength vs club length ? And how does that affect the lie angle needed ? Yes. Fitting questions. No fitter has ever mentioned this to me. I’ve never even heard the “ the shaft is straight in / behind the face “ thing she just said. The bucket drill rings true too. To me a lot like throwing a baseball. Nobody ever taught me how to do that either. We all just did it. Who knows. Probably goes off the rails soon 🤣 -
My opinion? Worth absolutely zero. Small headed driver teed low. You can get 0 to +1 pretty easy by simply not taking a divot. Your swing will also free up due to not “ trying “ to hit the damn mailbox. At 45 I think I’ve finally just stopped trying to maximize a 460cc driver. It’s just a horrible fit for me. several bandaids help though. Hovering it. Usually makes for up or neutral. Setting up like Moe ( club head way behind the ball ) usually gets it on the up. But none were ever consistent. And it’s very hard to “ let it go “ and make any speed. Drop it down to a 340cc or so head. Poof. Easy. Even at 44.5 inches. On the practice tee. I hit 3 wood at a target 260 yards out. The size of a fence post. And rarely hit a ball off that line. With a 460cc driver. It’s a chore to hit it farther than 3 wood , AND keep it in a 30 yard pattern. Shrink the driver. And I’m flying that same post by 30 plus and keeping it online. If I want to ramp it up. I can go faster and faster with the smaller head. Always been this way.
